Need Help old tank bowing in front

Hi guys and gals. Just got an old 35gal tank 36"x12"x18' did a leek test on tank and no leaks but what I didn't see is that the center support was removed and when I filled it and put on the glass top the front is about just under 1/4" away from the front when the top hits the corners so it's bowing. Should I put in a support across the inside or just not worry about it? The glass looks to be 1/4" thick. Tank on has fish and is running for 6hrs. Please put my mind at rest Help!!!!

I'd worry about it. The center brace is structural and you may have problems without it. It's not a risk I would take. Do you have another tank where you could keep the fish until you fix it? You can buy a whole new top frame and replace it.

Maybe I'm just really anal retentive but I wouldn't trust a brace that I siliconed in myself.

Do you happen to know the manufacturer of the tank? There's probably a sticker on there somewhere that will tell you the brand and year it was made. Then you can probably order the frame directly from the manufacturer.

Ok went to my LFS and they ordered me a frame top but it want be in for 2 weeks, so I lowered the water level and it took 1/16" out of the bow now bow is about 1/8" out. My new ? is 1:what is the best way to change the top frame and can I do it with some water still in the tank I was thinking about 1/2? 2:What is an easy way to get the old frame off?

I had the same problem with a 46 gallon tank and I call the company and they sent me a new top frame and a big tube of silicone overnight , I fixed it myself and it's been fine since. Easy enough to do.
Good luck!
