Lighting!

I'm setting up a nice lil' eight gal for my fry (I have twelve, six Guppies and six Platys.) I've got a heater, however I have no money for a light, and the tank is very tall and narrow, and hexagonal, therefore finding a light fixture is pretty tricky.

I read on here that having a light is not necessary for fish keeping, especially as it won't be a display tank.

As an alternative, I have purchased three Three LED spotlight lights (Circular battery powered lights, with three white LED's within.) They affix with sticky back pads to the top of the lid of the aquarium, would these be sufficient?

Any help is much appreciated.

Also, the tank has a nice amount of sunlight in the morning, so if that's any help!

Thank you very much!

i would not use those, what if the moisture from the tank kills the sticky adhesive on the lights and they fall into the tank? if your not worried about looks, go pick up a round shop light and buy a twisted CFL light, then you could easily grow moss for the fry-babies

Thankies, however there is an acrylic sheet separating the water from the lid, but I'll keep an eye out for those in the future

i wouldnt think there would be any problems other than limited visibility. if you decide to use a shop light, the one i had in mind costs about $8 at home depot, its just a round metal reflector with a light socket and a cord, it also has a squeeze clamp so it can be clipped onto anything.

That'd be great if I could find one over here, thank you so much!
