tank trim refinishing

got an old tank with that ugly plastic wood trim? krylon fusion is your answer.

i had a tank that had wood trim lookin stuff that got scraped up and i just sanded it smooth with a finer grit sanding pad.

then i just taped it off and used satin black krylon fusion for plastic. worked great.

just thought i would let you all know if you wanted to revamp your tank trim. you could even color it if you wanted. but from what i can tell, the color selection is pretty basic.

picked it up at walmart for about 5 bucks. lowe's doesn't carry krylon, they carry valspar. i've used valspar's plastic paint before, and i didn't like it as much. and the spray nozzle on the krylon is really nice. adjustable spray pattern and i lot better activation method than the old white cap.

let me know if you have any questions.

Indio Pacific Sea Farms actually paints their HOB filter's intake tube with Krylon Fusion Patriot Blue, the same paint that they use for the back glass of their tanks. I was HIGHLY suspect of this as being toxic but their YouTube video pretty much puts that to rest. They show one of their filters that's no longer in use and it's intake tube which had been painted Patriot Blue was encrusted with coralline algae and even had coral polyps growing ON the painted surface!!! I was really stunned. Apparently the stuff is fairly low on toxicity (once cured) if coral will grow on it!
