wet dry for a pond DIY???

anyone know how to make a wet dry filter for a pond. i was thinking using a pump to pump water through a strainer of some king and then into a wet dry made by myself because i don't have a job and my parents ain't paying that much money for me and my MTS-P (pond). any other suggetsion would help.

There is an interesting wet/dry filter by Resun that works on top of tanks. Maybe using their idea as a lead could help you.

These units move the water from the tank through a standard powerhead (I would use a pre-filter there), pump the water through attached hose to a horizontally placed, bottom only perforated acrylic rigid tube (PVC would work as well) that feeds a tray with ceramic rings and is headed back into the tank by gravity.

You would need to figure out GPH requirements to determine adequate tubing diameter and pump capacity.

Hope this helps

That would work nicely pepetj. The only thing I would add is a multi-stage system.

Use this type container http://www.target.com/gp/search/178-...t_adv_XSGT0562

and drill holes in the bottom of the top 2 bins.Have prefilter media in the top, so you get a steady trickle of flow into the bottom 2.The 2nd drawer could have bio-balls, and the the bottom tray would be your return to the pond.

ok so i saw SOF's container and am going to use pepetj's pump idea. put each level in the container different top is empty but water next is bio-balls and then a fat sponge or maybe carbon.
