| im new to ponds too but i have set one up and it really wasnt that hard. the first thing to do is the same with building anything else, location, you want to make sure that the pond will recieve the amount of sunlight that the plants that you will put around it will flourish. next is you are goung to have to decide on the size of the pond while also keeping in mind that the bigger the more expensive. once you have done this its then deciding if you want to do a preformed liner or do you want to make your own design. idid the preformed it was easier to do so im gunna take you through the steps of a preformed liner. once you buy it you are also gunna want to buy a filter large enough for it. diggig is the hardest part, you have to trace the top rim of the pond on the ground with stakes then dig to the depth of the pond, usually 1 or 2 feet, keeping in mind that the pond will have to fit in it and be level. after you have dug and put your pond in the ground you now have to line the rim. i used rocks ,easier and it looks nice, glue rocks together on top of the top rim of the pond till the rocks are level with the original ground. after that it is just the same as any aquarium but i would stillgo to home depot or hardware store that has ponds and ask lots of questions and buy a good book. it will help to see pictures and a better description. hope this helps if not you may yell and get mad at me in my pms |
