DIY spray Bar for a HOB filter?

I would like to build one for my 10 gallon tank, but I am not sure how to go about doing it.

I was thinking of just a small piece of PVC tubing. Cut have one end of it so the water from my Aquaclear would flow into it, then capping both ends so the water flows through the holes I would drill in it.

The only thing is how would I "hang" it in my tank?

Thanks

put some plastic hooks on it that fit over the back of the tank. That should work.

Depending on the size of the pvc, what about the suction cups that come with some aquarium tubing? http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewIt...150~tab~1.html Just one example. Also I don't know about the LFS's by you but mine said they sell the spray bars. Not sure if it worth buying over making but they probably sell the suction cups too. Just my 2cents, good luck!

you're not going to be able to build a spray bar. It requires pressure to operate and you've only got gravity feeding it. As soon as any pressure builds, the filter will just bypass the spray bar.

I don't think you can significantly improve aeration, but the best way would be to put pegs in the output spout. I still don't think it's worthwhile because the aquaclear already does a great job aerating.

I do agree with the pressurized part, but what about just getting more surface area covered? Not necessarily forcing the water out but just coming out over a length of tubing just to agitate the surface.

Thats what I was thinking. Just to use it so more water it put out all over the tank and not just at the one spot where the filter come out.

IMO, If it didn't cost too much to try.. I don't think it would be a bad idea. I would definitely expect the worst(not working like hoped) and hope for the best(working like we can think it should). Maybe see what the stuff you need costs and see if it would be worth it if it did fail. Since I assume this is for the 10G in your Info tab, I think even a 150GPH would create to much current. Did a quick google search.. and didnt see anything under that. If there is that could be another option. Good Luck.
