Help I need to build raw Stand Today

I just noticed a leak in my 20gal. kitchen tank and the only tank I have to replace it with is my 80gal. I need to build a stand today so I can set it up before the leak gets worse. I have 3 baby opaline Gouramis in it. Does anyone have a basic plan for a fast easy 2X4 or 2X6 frame for a stand. Thanks in advance.

Try that site. You enter the dimensions of the tank, and they give you plans for a stand.

If that doesn't work, all I know is that you want a lot of vertical support, and you want the weight spread out both along the top of the stand (so there aren't pressure points on the aquarium) and along the bottom of the stand (so there aren't pressure points on the floor).

Another option would be to get a storage container from Walmart, Target, or similar store, attach the filter to that, and then you can take more time to either fix the 20g or build a more attractive stand for the 80g.
Good luck. Let us know if you need any other help.

PS. Remember to keep the original filter media wet at all times during the move, so the new tank will be cycled.

Quickest and cheapest solution is as sirdarksol said, get a plastic container (tote ??), transfer water, filter & heater to it (and decor if you wish). Plus they make good quarantine/hospital 'tanks'

Thanks for all of your help. I broke down and got a bigger tank on craigslist. So I have resealed my smaller tanks and have put them up for sale. I hope when I am done to have the 85gal., 55gal. and a 30gal.

Thanks again

Aha, another MTS sufferer.

So is everyone doing ok now? Keep one of the smaller tanks if you can to use as a hospital/quarantine tank.

FYI- Some cinder blocks and a 1/2" -3/4" board makes a quick, easy and cheap emergency stand.
