Thanks greenman, you're quite right about the water staying in. I have a modified car tyre pump to act as a vacuum pump to fill the tank initially.

The removal of occupants is much easier than you think. It doesn't show in the pics, but the top panel of the flute chamber slopes slightly towards the back, and to remove the fish, you simply empty the top! Very easy to do, just put a piece of air pipe up into the column and let the air in while you siphon out from the bottom. The fish are forced down to the bottom section simply because they have no water at the top. Any fish that try to stay up there will slide down the sloping top of the flute. Simple really!

You only need to do this when you want to remove all the fish/fry. If you want to remove the female after mating, just offer some food in the flute area and she will come down to get it. Same with the male when his job is done. I have a piece of glass that slots into the flute area, cutting off access to the flute from the bottom, so once the fish you want to remove is down, they can't get back up again.

I'm just checking in Tim to see how everything's going...

You should be about all moved by now. The fish all cozy in their new home?

I got a digital camera yesterday, after I figure out how to use the new-fangled thing, I'll share some pictures of my tanks, I've enjoyed yours so much.......I'm beginning to think people don't believe me that I even have tanks!
