I just love your ability to make something positive happen. By Gosh you didn't just set there crying in your beer!

I hope the platinums ARE a breeding pair! I think these will be a great addition.....

Great job Tim! I'm glad you've been able to get things rolling anyways and will look forward to the fish house gone mad with breeding.

So we're set for a busy xmas season after all!

I'll let them settle for a couple of days before starting to condition them. They have to get used to the new water and calm down first.

They are more than gorgeous, they are productive too! I found several of the bettas frantically building bubblenests yesterday, so I put females in two of them this morning and both have now sporned and are tending their nests!

Guess I need to get the barracks sorted out pretty quickly! Oh, what fun!

Ok, so they are happy, and now the gouramis are busy too! We have a red male gourami with female sporning tonight and one of the natural males sporned this afternoon!

The fry explosion is going to be enormous! We should be looking to start moving them in the spring, right on target. The betta fry should hatch tomorrow, so we will know numbers by the end of the week hopefully and pics will come as soon as they are big enough to photograph.

I am going to get the barracks started on Monday and get the other tanks in place this week, along with a BBS farm and a daphnia breeder to make sure there isn't a food shortage. The aquaponics is producing enough daphnia for them at the moment, but by the time they need more, a second breeder will be in working order. It's all go at the moment!

Would you believe it? The fish house is working brilliantly and already producing new fry, but that's not the big news.....

We are going to move! having worked so hard on getting the fish house done and working, we now have to build another one, from the ground up this time, so that we can move the entire operation to new premises!

this was NOT in our original plan, and believe me, it's not something that we have done on the spur of the moment. My job has become more and more difficult since the fish started to breed like they have, and over the last week we took the decision to leave my job to devote all our time to the fish. But to do this, we have to leave the accommodation that comes with the job!

Over the next 4 weeks, we have to construct a new fish house, big enough to take not only all the present fh tanks and stock, but also all the tanks in the living room, at least until I can find the time to build them in again.

The house we are moving to has just enough room for what we need and construction started this week on the new building. It is being built of timber, which is both quick to construct and warm. The main framework is already taking shape, being a room 16' long by 8' wide, built onto an existing brick outbuilding which will serve as a cold-water area and the 6' dividing wall between our house and next door. The building will be joined to the house by building a utility room to connect the fish house and the kitchen door, with a new conservatory to one side.

I took some pics today of the framework, but haven't yet got them onto the pc, so will post as soon as I can.

More as it develops.

BABIES BABIES Everywhere, and not a wink of sleep!!!

Tim and Karen, OMG Where oh where will you put people now when we come to visit?

I hope all this works out for you, and it sounds like it has been a hard decision, but harder to accomplish.

We have 160 ac. of land here, if you want to move your fish house to AK!!! Only problem here is NO steady supply of electricity, but you could work out that little problem.

In the end the only unsolvable problem is the one that keeps you from moving forward. Keep your chins high, and step out with confidence, and all will be OK.

Fish House 2.0 will be much better then the last because now you know what worked great and what could have been done better.

You are living the dream of many people of turning there hobby into a lifestyle so all the hard work will be worth it in the end I'm sure. Good Luck on this one.
