(If you can import from Singapore and the rest of the world, it must be possible to do so from here!)

Here's a new batch of pictures to show the re-work and additions that we have made since I last posted. They show the re-building on rack 1 and the complicated control valve assembly, which will have to be tidied up, I'm not happy with it as it is.
A lot of the water feed system is still temporary, but that will be replaced as time permits. the main thing was to get enough tank space for the new fish, which will arrive tomorrow.

It's a wait that has been killing me! Here are the present residents: I have sold all the dwarf gouramis this week, along with all the swordtails and most of the mollies, just keeping a few of the swords and mollies to pair off with new blood in the future.
This created several tanks for new young that are ready to move from the flat now, including yet more angels and guppies!

Oh well, I suppose everything has a reason, I just wish I knew what it was!
DEFRA, the government Agency that controls the import of livestock, including fish, have in their wisdom, confiscated the shipment. Not just my order, but the entire plane-load of fish!
Because of this, I will not have the delivery now until the New Year, which is a real bummer! I was hoping that by then they would be starting to pair off, but they ain't going to now.
I have a question through this:
What do they do with all those fish? They don't return them, they don't allow them to complete their journey, so where do they all go? The shipment was thousands of fish of all species, so what do they do with them all?
If anyone reading this works for DEFRA, I would be very interested to know the answer! I have spoken with several people today, all of whom have lost their deliveries from the same flight, and nobody seems to know the answer to this!
Now my xmas has been ruined, I have to look forward to re-ordering in the New Year, and hoping that this time, they let them through!

I am SO sorry! Did you check with them before ordering? Don't even know if this would have helped, but sounds like others are in the same boat.
What do they say they do with the fish? Do you know for a fact that they don't let them complete their journey? It just STINKS!
Being a sceptical person at heart, sounds like maybe someone didn't pay the $$$$$ to grease the wheels!
What do your local fish shops do to import? It must be a regular thing, cause it sounds like you have a good selection available there.
We suffer with you.

These agencies are a law unto themselves. They can come along and impound anything from any shipment at any time, and if you object, they just stop your shipment every time! As a branch of Customs and Excise, they have similar powers, but carry even more weight because of their remit for disease control.
Dozens of LFS's have been affected by this siezure, and it couldn't have happened at a worse time, as this was the last shipment before xmas, and many shops were depending on this delivery for their customers. I am sure that there is a good reason for the siezure, but it just came at the worst possible time of the year!
If you are a registered breeder, they can come into your premises and take anything they want, test any of the fish, the water or anything they suspect isn't right, that includes removal of stock, breeding fish, fry, filters and just about everything too if they think it necessary! They have tremendous powers and are not afraid to use them. These people you do not want to upset!
This is one of the reasons I have been so careful to plan the fish house for cleanliness and disease minimisation. In the near future, we will have to register as breeders and then they can come to visit without invitation. If things are not right, they can and will close the operation down! After all the time and effort we have put into this, that's the last thing we want!

Maybe they under direct control of the friends of yours! I know you wanted some angels, but this is one heck of a way to get them!
(What will you do with the other 25000 fish Dave?)

Oh well, a couple of hundred pounds sterling and we have some new stock!
We spent the day touring North Wales, calling in to all the shops along the north coast, buying fish as we went.
By the end of the day we ended up with 4 white angels, 4 black lace angels, 2 large platinum angels, 2 blue splendens, 2 red splendens, 1 white splenden, 1 yellow splenden, 2 red females, 3 blue females and 3 white females, 4 blue dwarf gouramis, 4 red dwarfs, 4 natural dwarfs, (2 m, 2 f of each), 2 hatchet fish, (don't ask, they fell into the bag!), 2 butterfly Kois, 1 goldfish, (for the daughter's xmas tank) and 7 unidentified tetras.
I'll post the pics later!

we'll see in the next couple of weeks. The gouramis are full size and breeding ready, the large platinums are hopefully a pair, (we paid $24 each for them,) if I read the fish right, the other angels will have to grow out a little more yet, the hatchets are lonely, since there should be more of them, but at $16 each, we didn't want to over-spend, the bettas are all ready for conditioning and will hopefully be breeding very soon, so we should have results quite quickly!
I'll go in the FH with my cam after I've had something to eat and see if I can get some reasonable pics of them all.
