I don't quite understand Ted.. Am I dipping the discus into the water full of salt? I think it's really dangerous. I've never done it before too. Thanks anyway Ted.

How to do a salt dip (by Paul-pcsb23 from simplydiscus.com)

Salt dip:

2 tablespoons per gallon water. ANY salt so long as there are no anti-clog additives. Iodised salt is safe, cooking salt is cheaper.

Mix in a clean bucket with water of the same temp or from the tank. Net fish and place into bucket. After 30 mins remove back to clean water, BUT if the fish rolls over before the 30 minutes is up then remove it straight away to clean water.

I normally give the tank a good clean through when doing this or put them into a newly setup tank, but not everyone has the tankage.

The dip can be repeated daily (even twice daily) if needed for as long as necessary (well easily 2 weeks).

It is typical to see the fish drop slime, I normally do a mini w/c an hour or so after to remove the slime if its visible.

Sorry i am so late getting to this thread. Dark discus is never good. To me it sounds and looks more internal, and i don't think a salt bath would benefit that much. I'd look to treat for internal parasites myself.

Do you see any white poo from it? How long has this been going on? Did the fish come to you like this or was the fish healthy, eating, and swimming and then all of a sudden it became like this?

Good morning. Slug I had Discus many years ago (sadly not much success but back then I didn't know what I know now) and when my Discus looked like the one in his photo of it leaning over I treated with Metronidazole for internal parasites. Is this something that he could treat with? It says it's safe for the bio filtration and for copper sensitive fish and can be removed by adding activated carbon.
Thanks!
Ken

Yes, a white poo and this has been going on for 3 weeks, the fish was healthy by looking but he don't want to eat and make a distance from my hand while I was hand feeding my discus.
I'm adding an activated carbon awhile ago for removing the acriflavin effect. But I add some salt into it. Is it wrong or something?
Thanks Slug and aquarist48!
I'm so attached with this discus.

Yes Ken you are correct, Metronidazole is an effective treatment for internal parasite but that is as far as I know... You will have to wait for Slug to give you the right dosage

I am sorry you lost him but I really think you need to consider shawnies advice of getting a water conditioner to remove chlorine to help prevent your other fish dying. Even trace amounts of chlorine can be harmful

Metro should be dosed at 500 mg per 10 gallons, every 8 hours with a 50% water change in between. Taken from simplydiscus.com
