I have decided to change my 75gal to a discus only tank with perhaps 3 bn plecos or 6 cories. My question is how many discus can I keep in a 75gal with the clean up crew? I already have 4 discus. I am thinking that another 4 should be fine.

hi atkinson great to hear your changing to a discis tank , i tend to get discis in twos . what size are the discis that you have ?

6 would be fine. If you are really on top of cleaning you could go up to about 8 total. The other fish will work as well. I keep all of my discus in discus only tanks.

The general rule of thumb is 1 adult discus per 10gals of water.

Thanks dee31, my 4 are about 8cm around except my one which is around 6cm around as he is stunted.

Thansk Slug, I think I might get 8 in total and then I could upgrade there tank in a year or so to a 100gal.

same here its the only way to keep discis and get the best out of them , i have 4 discis in a 55g bowfront and they are triving ..
