Help choosing Discus

I will soon be turning my 75 gallon tank into a community/SA tank and I plan to put some discus in there. With the tank having other occupants I am looking for some smaller discus(max size).

Are there any type of discus that are typically smaller than others?

I don't think so. I believe they all get to about the same size if properly cared for. In my opinion you could get 4 in there easy with some tetras, new world cichlids, and/or cories. Need to be prepared to keep the water super clean and a constant/stable low pH.

Sounds good. Right now I am looking at:

* 4 Discus
* 3 Apisto Cacatuoides TRs
* 2 GBRs
* 8-10 Black neon Tetras
* 4-5 Corydoras Habrosas
* 1 Zebra Pleco(If I can find one)

All will be bought as juvies.

Travie is correct. All discus have the potential to reach the same size. Of course genetics and care play a major role in this. Some fish will only reach 5-6", others will push 9" in diameter. Genetics and care. The better care you give, as well as the better stock you get to start with, will give you better discus in the end.

You could probably even end up going with 6 discus. 4-6 would work in that tank.

pH is really nothing to worry about. Stability is the key. I've known people who breed their discus in tap water with a pH of 8. Just keep it stable.
