Water Change

OK all you Discus lovers, I've been researching and preparing for 4 months. I'm now ready for my new Discus! My 75 gal tank has finally cycled, I bought a 300 watt heater but it wasn't getting the temp warm enough so I bought a 400 watt which works like a charm. My driftwood and live plants looks great and my RO unit is installed.
The LFS has worked with me, they have three Marboro Reds and a Blue Cobalt. They have been taking great care of them while my tank was cycling. I've stopped in the store three times this month to see how they were doing. During that time they showed me what to be looking for and let me watch them feed. Today I got a call from the store because someone else wanted to buy them so I stopped by and put a deposit on them. I'm not sure if that was a ploy to push the sale or if they were really genuine (I hope the later).

Now I need your advise. My RO water in a 55 gal tank in my closet. I'm trying to make these frequent water changes easier (and neater) so I have set up with a pump attached to a hose that can reach the tank for my water changes. If you keep the discus tank about 84-85 degrees and the RO water is at room temperature (about 73 degrees) will this shock the fish?
I just experimented today: did a 15% water change and the temp went from 84 to 82 in a matter of a few minutes. So obviously 25-30% water changes will drop it even lower. Will this cause problems?

I would say yes. Any sudden change in temperature is not good for the fish and can cause problems. I hope that some of the Discus owners who use the RO system will stop by and give you a hand with this.
It sounds like your fish store has been very helpful and I would consider it very lucky that they have held those Discus for you for a month with no deposit down.
Best of luck.. sounds like with a few little fixes you should be ready soon for your Discus.

Yes, the sudden temp change for the Discus will not be a good one. It will cause immunity problems, I would recommend a heater for the holding tank of water.
