Discus- Darkening color?

Hi discus friends!

When i first got my my blue discus (still not sure what type), after a month or two, he turned this darkish grey/ black colour. I watched him and apart from becoming less active and being this dark colour he was fine. He ate didnt seem to be having trouble breathing etc. I treated him with 'ani internal bacteria' and he recovered. This was months ago.

Now again this same discus got this colour darkening again with the same symptoms. This time tho I left him longer to see maybe it would clear up on its own. But instead he became very lethargic so i took him out and am treating him with anti internal bacteria agian. He seems to be ok.
Now my question is, what could the problem be? Is it a disease?
Both times he was the only fish to be affected.

Thnx!

Heres the only pic i took, only the da darkening spreads to his face as well.

Hi Sabi
It seems to me that the blue Discus really show the dark stress color more than the others. They become almost black. I know that you have recently added new Discus to your tank and its very possible that he is showing his stress. He may be having a hard time dealing with the new comers. My Ricky blue is very shy and reacts the same way with any new fish to the tank.
If he seems to be doing better almost instantly in the QT, then it may be that he is just stressed out and having a hard time adjusting to the new kids on the block! lol.. I would watch and see if any of the others is overly picking on him and what his reaction is to it. Poor lil guy... he is a cutie for sure, just very shy and timid...
I wish him the best.. and hope that he adjusts.

Hm, i see what you saying. He was taking an interest in the new discus but the day before i took him out he lost interest in them.
What worried me was when he started to hang in the corner of the tank near the surface or at the bottom and not wanting to move. I knw that they arent very active but this is more less active than usual. Also the darkness doest come and go like it did when he was chasing a fish or stressed. It stayed, getting darker all the time. He still is dark but its kinda getting gray. Do you think its just stress? That would take a load of my mind!

Thanks for complimenting him! He is my fav. However i really cant call this guy shy, why, you should see him chase my big adult angels when its feeding time, lol! I call him Blue Devil!

To be honest I cant say i took any notice on the poo color. I'll check tho. If its white what would it implement?
Yes he's eating like normal.

Hi Sabi
when I have added new fish, one of my Discus, of course, Ricky Blue, would get very stressed out and turn dark. If he was not happy with the new fish, he would also go and stay in a corner near the top of the tank. He was just not happy with the newcomers and the change in the tank.
If it is white poo it can be an indication of internal parasites.

Hi there, I had 3 red pearl discus in one tank. When 2 on them paired, they would pick on the 3rd. They sometimes get very teritorial. If they get picked on they become stressed and change to a very dark grey almost black. I took the 3 one out and put him with the quarter size angel fry. Now he's doing great and is happy now and very brite in color. They will change color with there moods. Hope this helps.
