Did you say you used "Cycle"? That product is actually the wrong kind of bacteria, and so you'll have to keep using it indefinitely to avoid a minicycle.

Hm... well, I know that if you use Cycle, you have to keep using it forever, thus you're throwing in tons of $

Hi Bobby
as was stated above, the cycle will not in fact cycle your tank. It contains a type of bacteria that dies off quickly and that is why you would have to continue using it with every water change. It can get expensive when there is an easier way. Find some pure ammonia and use that to cycle your tank, its a lot cheaper and will produce the right kind of bacteria to get your tank cycled.

I would recommend putting guppies in your tank. Guppies are very hardy and are great with Discus. I currently have 7 guppies with my three discus and their all best of buds. Plus the guppies would be able to cycle your tank a whole lot faster so you will be able to add your discus sooner rather than later.

Neons will work. Neons and Cardinal tetras are very good choices to go with discus.
