Hi queenbobby, I don't use carbon in my filters. They say it removes impurities but then will release them back into your aquarium if you leave it in too long. Most people use carbon to remove old medications from their water column. But then after a day or two they remove the carbon. I'm not sure why they are telling you to put in carbon. I also think the carbon will interfere with the cycling of your tank. And its a waste of money.
The product called "Cycle" I have never used so I can't advise you on it.
