ok thinking of discus

Ok so I am thinking of putting 2 discs in a 36Lx13dx18h 35g is this ok.
I was also thinking of planting the tank as well. Any specific plants they would like

I was thinking
4 discs
1 zebra raphael
3 or German blue rams
not sure of anything else(if possible)

thanks for your help

Hi there,
If you mean, Discus fish I would suggest doing some reading in the Discus fish section first. I believe that what you suggest to add as far as fish would make your 35g tank over stocked. four Discus alone need much more room.
Sorry...
BUT.. the dwarf cichlids such as German Blue Rams sound great! They do prefer a mature tank, so make sure your tank has been through the nitrogen cycle for awhile... They also need a low pH level as well.

Thanks, the number was a 4 mistake, It meant to say 2 as I read that was the max for a 35g tank for discus. I wasn't sure if I could put other fish as well anything else.

I thought I read that you needed at least 2 so they sort of occupy each other. But I see you have singles in your tanks.

hi Scooby_too
Discus do prefer to be in groups, they are not as shy that way. Especially juveniles. But sometimes due to aggression the only safe thing to do is separate them. That is why you see one Discus in the 55g and one Discus in the 29g. Also the reason there is one Angelfish in each tank as well lol..
It was either that or find another dead Discus... My pigeon blood stressed out another Discus so bad that it never recovered.
btw, Discus get along with other fish, such as cardinal tetras, German Blue ram, and even rainbows. I have a blue Gourami in the tank now and neither are bothering each other. Discus can be pretty mean to their own species when they are trying to establish the pecking order, but ignore other fish for the most part.
That is why its a good idea, that when you are ready to buy them,to get the ones you want and introduce them together at the same time. But they are cichlids.. and boy do they get picky each other!
