What type water should I use,is normal tap water.chlorine teated ok,or is it more difficult than that?

Hi Glen, welcome to fishlore!
I use tap water, treated with Prime for my Discus tank. You shouldnt need to do any more than that. Do you already have Discus in the tank? You would need to do a lot of partial water changes with Discus fish. I wouldnt let water changes go over every three days.

I'm not a discus expert, but from what I have read, if you are not trying to breed the main thing is to keep REALLY clean water, this is why the water changes every 3 days. You should strive for nitrates not over 5! IF you are trying to breed, you may need RO water, and sparkling tanks, with no gravel......
