Hi Everyone. I wanted to know which of you has experience with discus. Maybe you could help me out When I was at the LFS today I was watching a tank full of discus for about 20 minutes. They absolutely captivated me. I know that I don't have room for a big tank for them. What is the minimum size tank for 1 or 2 discus? What are their needs like? I don't want to bite off more than I can chew if I don't have the time to care for them. My birthday is coming up and I might hint about this to my hubby and my parents if I decide I want to keep discus Please let me know what you think.

Hi There,
I love my Discus tank. They are not as hard to keep as some may think. What they demand is pristine water conditions and higher temps then most tropicals. Two Discus, as juveniles can live in a 29g tank. But would be better to have a larger tank for adults. They prefer to be in groups and not alone. Water changes, at the least should be every three days with a good vacuuming each time. Some folks do water changes every two days. Remember they are cichlids and will be aggressive towards each other at times. One of mine is a terror to the others and it drives me crazy!
