Damselfish and crustaceans

I would like to have a Damzilfish in the tank I am setting up but would also like to have crustaceans. I am not sure I can have both because I read that damzles are for fish only aquariums. Is or isn't this true.

My old damsel harassed a shrimp to the point that we got rid of the damsel. He did great with an emareld crab, though.

Not true, If you are refering to Damselfish. Perfectly ok with Inverts (crab, shrimp, lobsters). They just cant tolerate each other in small confinement (small tank) such as Chrysiptera Sp, Dascyllus Sp, Neoglyphiodon Sp, Pomacentrus sp.
Chromis have done well in groups w/o tearing/chasing each other.

But all are OK w/ crustaceans.

It was a blue velvet damsel and fire shrimp.

Could it have been thet Damsel wanted grooming service and was being rejected by Fire? lol!

Although Fire shrmp will groom but not as willingly and effectively as skunk Cleaner shrimp.

HaHa! The shrimp wouldnt come out. Ever since we took the damsel back to the LFS, the shrimp has been so active and amusing, even fighting off a dottyback(then why cant he handle a damsel?). The shrimp wasnt Monty's(the damsel) only victim. He killed a clownfish before this.

Because damsels are pure evil. I was talking to someone once that related a story of a yellow tail damsel they had that beat the snot out of a 6" yellow tang.

We learned this the hard way. It starved a 45 dollar clown. We didnt know what to do about it so we gave it back. One at the LFS is 5'' long! Its a blue velvet but its lost its color and is solid black. They have to keep it with lionfish to prevent it from eating anything! I thinf there is a porquipine puffer in with it too.

No, it was solid black. It really did look like a massive, black, blue velvet.
