Harlequin Color

My harlequins are always seen swimming happily in their school with bright irridescent colors...until dark. My harlequins become pale, my cories become a sickly green color, and i'm kinda confused. Explanations?

if it happens every night i think it's normal-- i have heard that fish lose color when they sleep and i know for sure my betta does!

mine don't turn green...but they certainly turn almost pure silver...probably your lighting (I have daylight CFLs...). My black neons turn translucent too.

It's perfectly normal.

My fish get pale at night too, once the light comes on their color returns.
I think it's pretty normal.

HOWEVER...

let me add that the colors on my black tetras in my other tank INTENSIFY, rather than fade like the rest of them do, so do my peppered cories

That's just weird, I thought that the lack of light made their color fade, not intensify. But it could also be the sudden switch from light to dark and vice-versa that stesses them out and makes them lose color.
