Giant Danio Coloration

After supplementing my Giant Danios' flake diet with turtle pellets (reptomin) for a few days, their coloration really developed.

The two younger danios maintained their "normal" coloration, I'm guessing because they're not quite big enough to eat turtle pellets yet. However, the contrast between old coloring and "NEW AND IMPROVED!" coloring is really stark.

Here is a giant danio on flake food:

And now the SAME individual with supplemental turtle pellets

The difference is even more pronounced than the pictures would indicate. The old one was shot using a flash that bloomed the iridescent coloring. The bottom one is NO flash. Cool, right?

Wow! How gorgeous! I am getting ready to suppliment my fishs' diet with some high protein, color enhancing food. Hopefully it will work as good as yours did!

Thanks!

I just did it because I didn't think my barbs were getting enough food. Plus it's funny to watch small fish eat turtle pellets. They swim around with them hanging out of their mouths like little cigars, lol.

...well they do that until the barbs pimp slap them and take the pellets away.

I know turtle food isn't meant to enhance the color of fish, but I think the nutritious ingredients (like alfalfa) do the trick.
