Cory Question

I want to get a Cory to go in a tank with 2 small Severums to clean up the food that they don't eat ( I'll give him shrimp pellets too). Can anyone suggest a certain kind of Cory and does size matter? I know that in the past the albinos seem to be the most active in our community tank.

The kind of Cory would come down to personal preference I think & size won't matter with the severums. They will jsut ignore corys anyway. Have at least 3 corys though as they much prefer to be in groups. 4-6 would be even better.

Yeah, I wouldn't get just one. The more the merrier.

Hello, I agree, you need at least 3 to keep them happy.....5 is better though. Albinos are fun and neat looking, I have 3 of them along with 2 Peppered. I do know some Corys get bigger then others. Good luck on whatever you choose.

I have 4 very active peppereds right now and they have always remain fairly small for me in the past. I know emeralds tend to be larger.

Hello DRock. I have 1 common Cory and 3 Cory Julli's. I think too it is a personal preference as to which type to get. I love them all! More the merrier as long as it doesn't make you over stocked.

I hope you can share some photos!

Thanks for your help everyone. The reason I asked is because I have a skunk cory and my dad has an albino cory and they both have completely different personalities. Just wanted to make sure that all corys can go with severums.

Won't be a problem. I've had heaps of Sevs in tanks with Corys & never had any problems between the two though a breeding pair of Sevs will chase the Corys away from thier site. Sevs are a danger to your plants more than they ever will be to another fish. Even feeder fish practically have to swim into a Sevs mouth before it will have a chew & even then it will usually just want to spit it back out.

There is now an albino cory in there and the severums don't pay any attention to him.

Your cory will be happier if you get him some friends. And something I learned--don't use aquarium salt with corys. Made mine extremely hyper.
