I finally have one of my favorite fish in my tank. I have 4 small peppered in addition to my now 7 Danios. I though one was going to die off the bat cause he was gasping for air and swimming very slowly, but after some Stress Coat+ and some acclimation he fine and swimming mid level through the leaves and rock tunnel I have.

So my question is... how many can I fit in this tank? Currently has 7 Danios 4 Cories. I wan to make sure they can school and are comfortable.

Good morning. I think you've about reached your stocking limit for a 20g tank. You might be able to put another Cory or two in there. Be sure to keep an eye on your water readings and keep up with your regular water changes and you should be fine. I'm sure you'll get some more responses.

Yeah, I was only thinking about getting 2 more cause I read somewhere you want to have 6 or more to get the best behaviors and stuff.

My tank has really Nitrates right now... I know it's cycled though and it's moderately planted.

Yes that is a good idea. Some people say 3 is fine but I am sure they prefer 6. 6 is set as a minimum for cory cats.

do you still have ammonia? I wouldnt add anymore cories as the smaller the tank, the harder it is to maintain and with your danios, its pretty stocked......cories are fine with 3 or more some members even have one...but they do like others of their own..

nitrates is waste....letting algae grow is an overload of waste and isnt very healthy for a tank....nitrates dont just go away..you need water changes to replenish vitamins and minerals and lower the nitrates...plants will use them, but water changes are still a must....

Okay if your nitrates are low then no problem. I won't let algae grow anymore. I need to reread the nitrogen cycle.

I have no ammonia and I know some plants absorb nitrates but I'm not banking on them.
