Cory's on trees??

Hi
Two of my corys seem to like sitting on their plant, balanced on the top. Is this unusual for "bottom dwellers"? Are they OK, or just crazy?

Theyre prob fine. If its a flat space they can rest, they may rest there.
I wouldnt be worried.

Hi Shawnie
Thanks for response. All perameters and temp fine, they must just be nuts!

By the way - before we got our fish we read lots of threads and then again during the first few weeks with them. Now that I have subscribed its amazing to "talk" to all of you who helped us to get started (Butterfly, Shawnie, Lucy, Bolivianbaby and others). You are all a bit like legends!
We appreciate all the help!!

You can just nickname them "the tree dwellers" Maybe you can charge people to come see them. Recoup some of your "fish" money

Glad we could help!

In our house, we've decided we don't need to go to the aquarium-we can charge to have people come to ours

perfect idea! Circus fish!
Trying not to think about the money, after the hardware the fish don't cost too much (except for discus etc which we don't have) and we buy them in small groups, its a cheap day out for all of us to go and get new babies!

They sound really cute. My pygmies will sometimes sift over leaves looking for little tidbits.
We'd love to see pics of your "tree corys". lol

Ive seen my cories do that though now they realize that all the other fish in our tank cannot get to the food UNDER the leaves ^_^

Maybe they were birds in a previous life.

I think they are fine. Just finding a nice place to relax.

What type of substrate do you have? Maybe it is too sharp for them and irritates their bellies.

very good point Beeker.
We used to have pink and blue large size gravel but they have moved to a new tank with finer substrate and a sandy cove (we shall see how long that lasts) as well as plenty of smooth rocks and pebbles. I wonder if the tree hugging will continue...

One of my 3 new pandas does the same thing the other two are bigger and arent interested much in the plants, but he cleans them often and sits on big leaves and watches my danios swim by, its very cute!

My pandas do that all the time. Though most cories are primarily bottom-dwellers, some of the smaller variety are actually bottom and middle dwellers. My pandas and juliis don't just sit on the bottom - they swim around a lot, play in bubbles, and check all the plant leaves for food.

I have a ceramic head in one of my tanks that has Java moss growing on it for hair and the corys sleep in it. I think they just find a place they feel comfortable and sleep there
