Albino Cory

I have put 4 Albino's in my 55 gallon tank and they seem to almost lay on there sides. Is this common with Albino's? I have 4 green and 4 pepper Cory's in my 150 and they seem to be more active.

It's not normal for them to lie on their sides.
Is it a new tank? Have you checked your readings? Are there other fish in the tank that could be harassing them?

Welcome to FishLore!

Is the 55 gallon a 5 year old set up? You should definitely be cycled unless something sent you into a mini cycle. Do you know what your water parameters are. I don't know what your water change schedule is but that's the first step to solving most problems. If you don't test your water or are using test strips you should consider investing in an API master test kit.

As far as the cories are concerned, that's kinda how they act. I have peppered cories. I've had them a year and a half and I don't see them active to much at all. Now that you mention it they do look like they are leaning a little to the side lol. I always used to think there was something wrong but that's just normal for them.

The 55 isnt new at all.............just the Cory's are. Like I said it just seems to be the Albino ones that are not very active.

Your peppered cories must be happier than mine because mine hardly ever move lol. Mine get excited over food and occasionally do the usual cory mad dash to the surface for a gulp of air but the rest of the time they just lay there.

When you say they are laying on their sides do you mean really laying on their sides or just sort of listing to one side?

Do you know your water parameters?

I just saw your tank pictures in your other thread. They look great

could be a pH shock...the tank they were in might have had a much different ph than you tank...how long were they acclimated? my albino's dont lay on their side even when not moving ..I hope things look up for them!

My albinos hardly ever stop moving. They're very active little suckers, but all fish do have their own personalities.

HAHA.....I can see that in them! Im going to wait a little bit but, I plan to make this tank into a Discus tank. So there will be lots of places for them to hide out in.
