cory for my 36" tank

I would like to put a small school of 6 corydora in my 36" tank.
Tank mates planned for are a pair of bolivian rams, a single angel and a school of tetra.
I have a thread going in the plants section asking about appropriate tetras.

The pH is 8, KH 10dh, and GH 1dh - raised to whatever level necessary.
We have softened water so I can, and do, raise GH very easily.

I like the looks of emerald and bronze corys, but am concerned they would grow too large for the tank and other occupants.
Is my concern a valid one?

I would like to stay with one species of cory and am open to other species suggestions and opinions.
Thanks,
alicem

I think either bronze or emeralds would be fine. Sure, they get bigger than other cories, but I still think they would have enough room in a 3 foot tank. Your stocking plan sounds great to me.

Thanks, harpua2002, I've been thinking about it for a while and have been doing alot of reading here on fishlore
about everyone's tanks, setups and stocking suggestions.

If emeralds or bronze aren't available,
or if another type happens to come up for auction in Indy on the 28th http://www.circlecityaqclub.org/
are there other options to watch for?

It really just depends on what you are interested in, I'd say. If there is a species that you would want to keep, I'd say go for it- you have room for the larger species and corys are peaceful fish so I don't see why not. The only caveat to that is that some may prefer higher temps that your other fish may not like as well (I know that Sterbais do but I'm not sure if any other species do), so do your research and watch for that. I've only kept a few species of corys so I'm afraid that's the most specific info I have to give.

Thankyou both for the comments and suggestions.
I'll do some more research on the tank temperature issue, I appreciate the heads up on that.

I'm getting pretty excited now.
