| Just got 3 neon orange corys! My LFS just got them in and they said it was the first time they ever got them! I paid quite a bit for them but they are amazing. I will try to post pics ASAP - their body is mosty a dark emerald green but the whole underside, fins, and two large stripes down the back are a bright neon orange. They are very active so far and like to hang out towards the middle of the tank (not on the sand) - so they are always visible! They are also much larger then my peppered or Juli corys and more slender shaped.
Anybody know anything about this type or Cory? I can't find much info online - there is also apparently green neon corys as well. |

I'm pretty sure I've read posts from Carol(Butterfly) saying she either has them or has had them in the past, she might chime in with further info.

| Yeah guys sorry for not having pictures - My family is in town and I haven't been home much - Thanks mathas for the pics!
This pic from mathas is close to what mine look like http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...&image_id=7462
Only mine are much brighter orange and glow like a neon tetra. Unfortunatly one of them already managed to get his nose in my powerhead (impeller type) and kinda scrape his face - he seems ok though... |

| OK - I talked to my LFS about these guys again and apparently they are called "laser orange cory" - He said these were the first he'd seen and probably the last. I also got 2 beautiful sterbai cory from them a while back and they have bright yellow fins. I wish I could find more of these unique cory cats around, but they are just too rare I guess! My LFS has awesome fish but they are soooo expensive. Many of their freshwater fish are $10-$20+ each |

| wow first ive heard of them and yes thanks mathas for the pics!! after your other post about it being bright orange like neons, and not like mathas pic, and now the fact that sterbai's having bright yellow fins, im taking a wild guess that these fish are dyed ...ive never seen a sterbai with bright yellow fins and pics deffinately would help... |

They are very against carrying dyed fish and were almost offended when I assumed they were dyed. If you look around online you will see this breed of cory does exist, they are just very hard to find in pet shops. Regarding my serbai - they are very bright yellow, but do not look dyed at all (they are from a local breeder) - I got these serbai when they were basically fry and always had yellow fins (I saw the parents and they did too). I will try to post pics, but none of my cories ever stop moving and have proven in the past to be near impossible to get a clear shot of. I will keep trying though.
EDIT: The serbai are only yellow on the bottom - their tail and top fins are standard color. Its like their bellies, side and bottom fins that are yellow Last edited by grimly024; June 11th, 2009 at 03:47 PM.

| I've paid $12 at the LFS and here's what they are on line, plus shipping of course: http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/2478/product.web
Sorry for the thread hijack.
I'd describe my sterbai as orange on the undersides...
But then, it could be a lighting thing.

Carol | Yes! most of my fish food is Omega One as well. I wish I could get bloodworms to my corys, but the angelfish and gold barbs are just too greedy to let any make it to the bottom! |
