cory's food

Hi, I have two cories in my small community tank. I give them only one shrinking pellet at a time. They do not see this pellet from the start and then my other fish go and eat it. I have one bloated fish at te moment, a female sword. What should I do? I want the cories to eat the pellet, not the other fish.

I'm having the same problem, except mine will eat some of the food and then my betta steals the rest before the ADF can get to it. My betta ends up becoming bloated...

cories will eat just about anything that falls to the bottom....the best time to target feed them, is about 30 mins after the lights go out...you can also experiment with veggies ...if you can find a veggie clip, try cucumbers, zucchini, lettuce , and spinach...put it in at night and take it out the next night if there is some left....mine are in with angels and a rts...the bloodworms and brine shrimp, as well as the occasional flakes, seem to keep them happy...

You can try two things:

1) Try adding the pellet at night after the lights go out.

2) When you feed the cories, add some flakes at the same time and hopefully the other fish will be busy eating at the top of the tank while the cories eat their pellet at the bottom.

my cories eat flakes without any problems. i just make the flakes sink or they come to the top to eat the flakes.

Well see, I put in the food for my cories, but my betta will beat them to it. He then takes it away from the cories. He it's almost all of it and becomes bloated. It's really hard to feed my ADF as well because he's slow to getting his food and the betta will beat him to that...

Should I separate the betta during feeding time? I have a quarantine tank..should I put him in there and feed them separately?

sglider if you have a breeding net/box just use that...its like putting them in time out ... just cage up the betta at night i guess
