Hello. Usually for a species to school there should be 5 or more and a long enough tank for them to swim. Too, schooling is also a defense mechanism and may only school when frightened.

My cories took a while to warm up to each other . . . they came from the same tank, but it was wierd. They were all unmoving and darkly colored. (Maybe it was because the gravel was black.) They were in with plecos and live bamboo. When they got home, they turned lighter and moved everywhere. Oh, a QUICK question:
Do you say pleco PLAYco or PLEKco?
I say it PLEKco.

cories dont always "hang out" all the time together..they roam alot on their own as well..I do agree with aquarist that they like more in their pack....as long as they are healthy, I wouldnt worry..but if you have room, id deffinately add a few more...you can mix and match different cories as well..

Generally you need five or more of any species for them to school

Yes, different types of cories should school together. There are always exceptions though. I had a little albino cory who never liked to hang out with my other cories.
