| Cory specie sizes I just recently learned that some cory species can grow much bigger than other species. I thought they were all roughly around 2-2.5 inches, but apparently some grow from as little as 1.5 and some can get up to 3?
Which cory species tend to grow the most? Which are the smallest?
Thanks! |

| I don't know how accurate Petsmarts labels are but when I bought some Emerald Green Corys last week they said 3" and the Albino Corys said 4". |

| Whoa, 4" is out of my size range for sure. Yeah, I'm not too trusting about PetSmart still; I've never seen 4" for a cory anywhere else.
How about panda cories and leopard spotted (Sterby, I think)? |

| I have 3 different kinds...albinos, which are about 3 to almost 4 inches now..they are huge compared to what I thought they would be..I have sterbais, which are 2.5 or close to 3...and some bronze about 3inches...I think the pygmy are the smallest but not sure...what are you looking to get ?
EDIT: had to make the bf see my albinos...i swear they are almost 4 and he says about 3.5 LOL (girls dont measure things well ) |

| Most corydoras are about 2" on average. Pygmy corys are 1", and emeralds are about 3", but other than that, they're pretty juch all about 2". |

| I hope it's okay to reference another site, but the best place I've found for more specific information on the many different species of corydoras is at planetcatfish. |

| Jeez, what's with albinos being huge? Well, that one's off my stocking list then.... Looks like I'll be sticking with the pandas and leopard spotted sterbys.
I'll have to see what a pygmy looks like because they sound like what I'm looking for. Are they common? I haven't seen a "pygmy" cory anywhere. Those should school with the regular cories also, right? |

| Hey wait, I'm a brunette! *raspberry*
Xfish- there are quite a few different species of cories; and when I was reading up on them found they can have quite different needs, temp. wise, etc. As well there is quite a size range! |

Look at this list and scroll down to Corydoeas, if you put your cursor (pointer) over the name a picture will pop up of most of them. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...hp?family_id=1
brochis are relatives of Corys and look just like them but they can get really big.
C habrosus I believe is the smallest cory at 1.4 inches. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...species_id=482
C pygmaeus runs it a close second at 1.3 inches http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...species_id=283

| I have found the information on Fish Lore to be pretty reliable! I have also used Aquarium Wiki ( http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Corydoras) for some references. The info on there seems to be pretty similar to Planet Catfish, as well as Fish Lore. I generally use 3 or 4 sites to see what those different sites agree on. I personally never depend on Petsmart or Petco for any info. My local Petsmart has a tag on their cory tank that says "needs aquarium salt" !!! One can find different info on different sites for the same species. So take it with a grain of salt (so to speak), especially a site like Aquarium Wiki.
