Cory's swimming near the surface like they want out?

My water numbers are almost perfect in my 120 tank. I use air stones to move the water ann aerate. Every day it seem like all 3 decide they are stressed and start swimming near the surface against the glass like they want out. Cant be oxygen, pH is 7.3, only thing registering is nitrates 10. The 2 Cory's in my 60 tank never act that way except for the occasional run to the surface for a gulp and back down to work the sand.

Any ideas why they would act that way?

Hey Gunner. Sometimes mine will dash from the bottom to the top and swim up and down the glass. I don't think it's anything to worry about though. Maybe they're just showing off for you

darting occasionally is normal..staying there isnt and probably is from ammonia exposure

I agree with Shawnie
Most times that our fish stay at the surface is do to a water quality problem.

I had one that would come to the surface during feeding time (I think he preferred fresh food over the picked-over stuff that fell to the bottom), but once the food was gone, he'd return to the bottom.

mine spent lots of time swimming up and down and up and down and then "sharkfinning" at the surface of the water (he'd start at one end, go all the way up to the top so that his top fin was just above the water, go the entire length of the tank, and then come back down), but i've never seen mine just hanging out at the top

Good news this morning the entire bottom of the aquarium is dimple tracked for the first time ever, just like my 60 tank and although the BP is still gently head butting them here and there as they pass by his hide the Cory's are all now just ignoring the BP the same way they ignore other community fish during pushy feeding situations. But your all so right and make me recall about changes in their water chemistry does stress them out during periods when I add detox or stress coat sometimes turning pink around the gills then slowly going away and calming down. This last time there was no need for detox so none was added but when they were chased and butted by my new large BP they really were acting like they wanted out desperately. But now they all seem to have settled in I guess the BP is all bark. I so relieved this morning, one less problem to distract me from completing our tax return.
