My New Cory's Tail Fin Is Damaged!

I Don't Think its fin rot i think it just got a lil nipped up when he was in the pet store. I gave him some stress coat to help it regrow and there is a lil salt in the tank how else can i help it

Corys don't tolerate salt very well, so one helpful thing you could do is to stop using it. To quote sirdarksol, "there are better ways of dealing with illness than salt; medications do the same things, and generally with less stress on the fish than salt would cause".

Other than that, time and healthy water should help the fin heal. By healthy water, I mean no ammonia and no nitrites.

It probably depends on how much salt you used, but my guess is that things will be just fine with a couple week's time and water changes.

It's up to you. You'll find people who swear by using salt, and people who find it unnecessary; I'm in the second camp. My feeling is, why add chemicals that my tank thrives without? By the same token, I don't take Tylenol every couple of days, "just because"... I take it when I have a specific need.

But your tank isn't my tank. If you want to use it, use it.

I've actually been having the same problem. My albino cory has missing parts on his tail and dorsal fin from the store but it hasn't healed since 2-3 weeks ago. It seems to be doing fine though. I'm not adding salt or anything.

One of my baby Corys got chewed up by my male Krib, but his tailfin has grown back fine, and I didn't add any salt or meds.

unless its finrot or fungus or something, it will just grow back. you don't really need to do anything special aside from having good water parameters.
