albino cory eggs

hi everyone

during my water change today my cory started to lay eggs, around 20 of them!! i manage to save 10 of them from my tetras..the eggs are now in a small hatching tank inside the main tank, away from my tetras!!

the question is...what now? what do i need to do to make sure these eggs hatch? etc etc

any help would be most helpful

thanks in advance

Good job getting the eggs. I wish I could help you, but I never kept cories. I'm sure yopu will need to feed them micro food.

Heres a great website for breeding cories. You'll need to scroll down to the bottom, pretty good info: http://www.scotcat.com/factsheets/aeneus.html
(I'm from the usa so I don't know exactly how large your tank is, but I hope you have enough room for the babies.) Good Luck!!!

hi just a quick update, from the ten eggs i had 7 hatch around an hour ago!! tiny tiny albino corys, hard to spot with the naked eye, but i can just about make them out in the bottom of the hatchery, from the info ive read online , i have to wait 48 hours now and then start to feed brine srimp...i hope they like brine srimp!

ive also added some sand to bottom of my hatchery, the other fish in my tank could see the new arrivals in the clear plastic bottom of the hatchery, so hopefully the sand will give them some cover, and help them relax aliitle!

thanks for the info MeGustaUnaPez926 on that catfish website, very helpful

Hi Shark!

Congratulations on your new babies. That website said to start out on infusoria -----> microworms/fry flake--------> baby brine shrimp. Do you happen to have any extra moss around? I don't know about you but my java moss is an infusoria haven and I find that fry thrive in my java moss.

In the mean time you should think about getting yourself a starter of microworms. Check out ebay for an example. I'm sure you can find some more local to you. It can take up to a week to whip up your own batch so I would recommend locating a starter culture.

Good luck and I hope that helps!

PS - One of my favorite cories was albino and it only had one eye.

ok guys...heres a few pictures for you...first up is cheryl....the proud mother!...followed by pictures of her babies...these guys are about 5 weeks old....they eat everything!!

cheryl produces eggs every week now, i saved the first batch, as i said in my first email...but havent saved anymore until last week, when i put 6 more eggs in the hatchery...these hatched, so far ive seen 2 swimming around, but the babies are that small to the naked eye its so difficult to spot them against the sand in the bottom of the hatchery...i'll try and get some pictures of the 2 day old corys today!

enjoy the pictures!

and happy new year!!

just got two small albino cory's . luv em. they are very happy in my 5 gallon quar tank. so far so good. any specifics to watch out for? are albinos more prone to anything negative like shorter lifespan or certain diseases ? within hours of entering tank ,they were scanning the surfaces for eats... good sign considering the first few hours they were frozen in place. not a sign of movement. like a shock of somesort. then both, simultaneously started swimming etc. once i seen them picking unseen nutrients off the filter surfaces(inside canister filter) i knew they would be fine. cant wait for another 15 days until i can put them in my little 10 g paradise with a purple betta that is just amazingly entertaining. iT WILL BE JUST THE THREE OF THEM LIVING IN THE 10G SOON. NO MORE. Are albino's just as hardy as the other 2 or 3 common variations ? THANKS.
