I added 4 cory's on Thursday, and they were having a great time all day long. They especially loved the new 48 inch bubble wand I put in a few days ago. Heck even my Neon/Cardinal Tetra's would take a few minutes each day to swim through it, but the Cory's practically lived in the bubbles for hours haha.
Friday I noticed the larger of the Albino Corys (Teresa) swimming slower and not being as active. She looked fine outside of her actions. I come home last night with my date to notice Teresa was dead and missing half of it's rear fin. Then I immediately noticed the Peppered Cory (Mara) acting wierd swimming funny. Closer inspection I saw Mara was missing one of its side fins!! Mara was just getting worse each hour.
The other fish were leaving Mara alone, so I decided to not take it out of the tank (in case she could somehow get better on her own). The next morning we see Mara upsidedown in one of the plants =(
My parameters are still great! (updated in my tank info) and the
pH is around 7.6, which is high but its been steady there ever since I started testing pH.
I noticed no signs of sickness the first day, and they were all getting along for the most part***
Could the two cory's have been fighting with each other? The Tetra's havent been nipping or chasing the cory's so this is my only assumption.
Thoughts?
*** Rachel (the other albino cory) is the most active fish I've ever seen. She will go FLYING through the bubble wand and shooting out of it at MACH4... sometimes into the school of tetra's, which sends all 6 of them going in opposite directions like a fireworks explosion of color (it's really cute).
