I had 2 cory's (can't remember their name but they were orange and black) and they were the cutest things always hanging together and busy scurrying around etc. Then 1 seemed to get sick and was losing it's color and not swimming much. Every day he/she appeared to be near dead and finally today he/she was passed away. My question is - the other cory since this all happened (over a week ago) only hides in the cave. He/She never even comes out to eat as far as I can tell. Is he/she sick too or sad about their friend? Should I get another cory the same breed or does it matter?

Arggghhh this fish business is hard stuff.

Cories are very social fish and prefer to be in groups. If possible, it would be good to get 2 more of the same kind so long as your not overstocking.

It's always nice to have a few of each species but as far as I know most cories will stick to one another regardless. Try and get two more like jdhef suggested - cories can be very shy when alone so the more the merrier.
