Cory Overeating?

This morning I discovered my Peppered Cory floating dead. His 3 cory buddies (emerald green, green, & albino) seem fine, as are the swordtail & ghost cat. I noticed that (s)he was getting quite fat, but had been growing since I got it months ago. I wondered if fish become overweight like people do. Will cories eat enough to become sick and/or die if they have the opportunity? This guy, along with the sword & ghost, even survived a past A/C breakdown which caused the water temp to reach 87F. (S)he was behaving normally yesterday. I didn't read water parameters at that time, but did the weekly water change this evening. Cories seem to be quite sturdy, but I've read that they can be sensitive to water quality. I realize that there may be many reasons to lose one, but I just wondered if one could overeat to the point of illness or death. Thank you.

I'm not all that knowledgeable in this area, so I may be totally wrong, but you may want to look into swim bladder disease. I think bloating is a symptom of that.

As far as it over eating, I really don't know, but beings your other cories aren't fat, it seems unlikely that overeating would be the case,

Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable them myself will chime in.

I doubt it. If the cory was "fat", then it was most likely a female.
