I think I have Cory eggs on the glass.

Okay this was an accident and now I think I have eggs from my Sterbas Cories. 37 eggs to be exact. I changed the water big time as it needed it and it was cooler than normal as I have a warm house and wanted to cool the tank a bit so it was about 75 degrees as opposed to the normal 80 or so. I went back after a couple hours and there are 37 eggs on my glass in my 25 gallon tank. This poses a big problem as that tank is chuck full of fish and nowhere to go with them but leave them right there. So now what? How long does it take for them to see if the eggs are viable? Don't they usually lay their eggs in plants or out of sight instead of on the glass? The only other fish it could be are the Dwarf Loaches or the Otos and odds on either of those are pretty slim actually for obvious reasons. I have not seen either Yo-Yo loach that is left for a couple days but I do not think they lay eggs on the glass either. I don't want to seem heartless but I do not have anywhere to go with the Dwarf Loaches, Yo-Yo Loaches, Otos, and the betta right now and then there are the 2 Cories too. ARGH...dilemma.

Take a razor blade and ease them of the glass.
Put them in water as close to the tank water in perameters as you can.
I would do so quickly, as the other fish you list will eat them.

It is too late. I went in to the bedroom just in time to see the last of them go down the smallest Yo-yos mouth and the cories were going ape. I feel horrible about it but they got to them first. Thanks for getting back to me I was just too slow.

I'm going to move the Cories in with Diablo and the Pleco in the 25 gallon it will be a better match and Diablo is so mellow he will not even notice if they decide to do another try sometime. They would be alone with him and it will be easier to control things. I can move Diablo out easier than trying to move a horde of others.

Aww, sorry to hear about the eggs getting eatten, Rose.

Two perks to the situation:

Your yo-yos had a high protein meal for the day is the first. The second is that you now know that your cories are ready and able to breed, and will be better prepared for it next time.

Good luck!

Yep and they are moving in with Diablo and he is the most mellow of my bettas so if I have to move him he is such a sweetheart he almost swims right into the net. I can move him out pretty easily and leave the Cories alone in the tank with their eggs if they decide to do it again. I will start a sponge filter for a second tank if I need to move anyone. Unfortunately I had just torn down my extra tanks and put them away and took my extras out as I lost all those fish and my population was down so I thought I had all eventualities covered. HA!
