Corys and Other Bottom Feeders

Will Corys be competing with ghost shrimp and red claw crabs for food at the bottom of the fish tank or will they be fine with those two?

Shrimps won't last long in a tank with a crab.

Those crabs need certain care and shouldn't be put in a community tank.

Also, your tank is extremely overcrowded already and has coldwater and tropical species mixed, which is not a good idea.

You can read about the crabs here:

How are they over stocked? How many should be in them? None of my fish are over 2 inches long.

Sorry, yes I was referring to your 20 and 30 gallons.

You have to look adult size of fish when you're stocking tanks, not little baby size since they grow. Your 30 gal is going to have about 50" of fish in it (not counting the goldfish, which I see you removed from your list), if your pleco is the common kind.

As for the 20 gal, one moor needs 15 gallons minimum just for that one fish. You do know that Koi can grow to huge sizes - 3 feet is not unusual - and won't stay at 3"?

Just trying to help you not have big losses down the road!

Yeah I figured in the adult sizes and have a 120g tank coming up to speed and will take some of the other bigger fish and put them in it. The koi is just chillin until my dad makes the 1000g pond in the backyard this summer. Yeah I realized my aquarium list was confusing so I have tried to clean it up and prevent any further confusion.

But back to my original question.

So no red claw in the tank then, but what about ghost shrimp and corys? Will they be competing for food?

Glad to hear you have a very big tank upcoming!

Ghost shrimp and corys will be fine. All fish compete for food, but as long as you feed them enough there should be no problem. Corys need the same food you feed your other fish, and shrimp will scavange and clean up any and all leftovers.
