Lethargic spotted cory with creepy black face

My spotted cory has recently been hard to locate in the tank and what used to be a broad black band across his eye now seems to cover its whole face. It's actually kind of sinister-looking. It is very lethargic, and I've witnessed one of my angels nip at it a couple of times. All the other fish in the tank seem very healthy. Is it damage from the angelfish? They were nipping at my big snail shortly before it died, as well. My only casualty so far...
Water levels seem fine. Thoughts? This is my first post; thanks!

First glad you are here. You say you don't know about the nitrogen cycle, that's something you need to get up to speed real soon, and you can find it here.
Cories like to be kept in groups of 3 or more, and they can get weak/sick from the stress of being alone...hence the hiding. How many Angels, tetras?Reason for asking... other problem may be... you are overstocked. Rule of thumb is 1" adult size fish//per gal. water. How ofter do you do water changes, and do you use a water conditioner to remove chlorine, phosphates, metal, etc. from the water? Angels are an aggressive breed, they "usually don't go after bottom swimmers like cories, but sometimes fish will pick on an "ill" fish.
I don't see temp. info...have you got a thermometer in the tank?...and a heater?

thanks for the info! i have 2 medium angels, and they don't seem to be going near the cory, I also have 6 neon tetras and 5 lemon tetras. the tank is 30 gallons, so i'm not too worried about overcrowding, i'm going to get 2 more cories and see if that makes him happier.

thanks again, and i'll let you know how it goes!
