Eye-less cory, HELP!

Okay, today I'm walking by my 5gal tank and notice my cory is swimming around and around. Then my cory turns to go the other way and I see she has no eye on her right side (from behind) left when you look straight at her. Neways, I really need some help. I've got her in some anti-fungus meds right now, I also have her seperated from my female betta. Now she's sitting with my other jared fish. Thanks ofr the help.

Okay... good news is, unless your fish gets an infection, he can live a happy life!!

It could have been an infection that made him lose it in the first place, possibly the female betta, poor water quality, other trauma, or supersaturation (gas bubble disease)... since it is missing the globe all together it either fell out OR because it was so severely damaged it could have been reabsorbed into the fish.

Fish do have an amazing ability to heal as long as there is no underlying disease or more trauma. Scar tissue will fill the socket and within a few seeks the orbit will then develop new tissue. It won't look so pretty but your fish should be able to function quite well!!

I would suggest while it just happened recently get some antibiotics in the tank. Good luck! Let us know how it goes..

Thanks a bunch But will she ever grow her eye back? Just wondering, now I'm off to see my eye-less fishy. Thanks, I'll keep you all updated ^.^

I haven't heard of a fish growing the eye back... unfortunately.

I have heard of fish losing both eyes and living a long and healthy life though!! I would make sure he's adjusting to eating and finding his food okay.

One of my spotted corys in my 10g has only one eye (I think I got him that way), and he's been fine. I've had him for a couple of months now, and the lack of an eye doesn't seem to faze him in the least. He's just as active as his two-eyed buddy.

Well, its been a few days and her eye is starting to fill up with scar tissue. She eats what I give her fine, I'm hoping that she'll be all right.
