Cory behavior

I have 2 Corys, 1-1.5 inches in a new (1 week) 55 gallon set-up. They want to spend more time along the top, my readings are all acceptable ( pH, ammonia, nitrite, etc,). Any ideas, suggestions? It doesn't seem normal to me.
THANKS for your help.

Hello and welcome to fishlore. cory cats are so much fun to have in a tank as you probably already know. As far as why your guys are hanging out at the top of the tank Im not sure. You say that the the water perimeters are good, but after only one week of set up your tank has not gone through the nitrogen cycle yet. What are your readings exactly? Corys are very sensitive fish and should only be brought into a well established fish tank that has gone through the nitrogen cycle. What other fish do you have in the tank? Is it a planted tank?

welcome to fishlore. corys are very sensitive to water conditions and your tank isn't cycled yet. I'd recommend Prime for treating your tap water with along with more frequent partial water changes.

Should have said that the tank was a previous existing tank that I just took down to move from the person's home. All (4) of the fish made it, and it was approximately 4 days before I added the Corys. As of today they have become more mellow, and stay on the bottom more.

That's great news about the corys! Maybe they were just stressed out about the move.

Hey drjimkool1 i deleted that duplicate post If the tank was taken down and put back together the tank may still be going back through cycling. Could you test Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates then post the numbers please? thanks
As has been said before Corys are really sensitive to water conditions.
