Nervous corys? Found something that helps I think

Hi guys

I tried the trick of using darker gravel (well I've mixed black gravel with my old beige one), and they really seem more ready to browse calmly now. I think they felt vulnerable before. I'd heard form other people that their corys were all over the place so I hope this helps.

Oh, and also, I am going to go and buy lots of low fake plants so they have a densely 'planted' area close to the substrate. And I got rid of a couple of hiding places/ornaments so that they have more room on hte substrate.

do you have any caves or hollow logs for them to swim into?

I find my corydoras really like to hang out inside a sideways 4" flowerpot, although its not big enough for more than 2 peppered corys. I think the low plants(make sure you get silk, so they're soft enough for the corys to swim through easily) and a cave or hollow log would be awesome though.

Yeah, low plants totally work.

In my other 'cory tank', I have a hamster maze. Well, it's the onset of that project, so it's only one elbow piece of a hamster maze. They love that one. But these corys are really chilled.

The more nervous corys are in the other tank. But they're way better now that they've got darker substrate.

hamster decor/toys are really fun for a lot of smaller fish. our one betta mickey loves his hamster picture frame.. it's like a crazy cave to him and he's always in it.
