Should corys really be THAT nervous?

Hi guys

I got 3 corys about 2 weeks ago for my 60L tank (about 12G, sharing with a couple of platys and a couple of mollies). I got 2 peppered corys (one albino, one not) and one trilineatus (I think they call them leopard corys).

Anyway, they don't seem to school like my other corys, who are also 3 different species (in a different tank). And they're forever zipping around. I guess I need to give them time to settle down but I don't know, they just don't look comfortable.

My other 3 corys are way calmer. Just nicely browsing away for food.

We had some bronzed & peppered in with our rams when we had them...they didn't ever stop being nervous...which is why I sold them...they'd take off all the time..except the first few days I got them. They posed for pictures & everything.

I wonder if it's because I got 3 different-looking corys. I guess they would school more if they were the same species?

they'll show more schooling behavior as the number in each group grows. They may buddy-up in time, but won't really school.

Mmmh. I think I'll put all 5 largish corys in the big tank, and add 2 panda corys to go with my current one in my female betta tank (50l)

largish corydoras

you have largish corys? hmm.. i thought the largish species died out when their natural habitat of jigglywiget was destroyed to make a school for mimes.

Ha ha, sorry for causing the confusion, Carol (or rather Dave should apologise, he should also apologise for using the bum smiley on me although he knows I hate it! )

Basically, I meant large-ish as bigger than panda corys. As I was talking about 3 different species (C. sterbai, C. loxozomus & peppered), I figured I'd refer to these as the large-ish crowd, to go to one tank, as opposed tot eh panda crowd, to go to the other tank.

It's funny, I am on another fish forum and we were just talking about brochis. I'd never heard of them before that.
