I have brown/red algae growing rapidly in my tank. I have tried putting snails in the tank, but the mom and dad pecked at them so all they did was stay in one place.

Is there ANY algae eater or other remedy I can use to get rid of the algae? I have tried turning the lights off for a week but that doesn't help.

Looks like Diatoms...they usually go away with time.

You could get a algae eater like a bristlenose plec that might do the trick.

I used to keep a Chinese algae eater with my pair of cons in the 72G and they were fine, no slime sucking what so ever the cons are a good tank mate as they are aggresive enough not to let the algae eater suck them
