feeding fry

The parents have the fry in a pyramid so I can't get to them to feed them. They just recently started swimming so when should I start to worry that they are not eating? I have tried crushing the food and putting it as close to the pyramid as possible but the parents either eat the food or bite me.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

The parents will make sure the fry get fed at this stage. As they get bigger, the fry will "hunt" for their own food in the substrate. At least that's what happens with mine.

Hope this helps! I'm so excited for you on your convict spawn! These guys are a hoot to watch raising their fry.

What are your exact readings? I usually base my water changes on nitrate levels, but others may have other suggestions.

25% should be good. That'll refresh the minerals in your water. Any more and you may risk losing your cycle.
