Got myself into a bit of a situation here. I was just at someones house picking up a few Guppies for the breeding program, when I noticed he had a tank with some Cons in it. I mentioned that I had a Con in my 90gal, and he told me he was selling his, as he wants to breed Bolivian Rams. "Hmmm" thinks I, "I'm sure Demon, my male Con, would love to have a girlfriend, I think I'll get him one!"

Now Demon is the smallest fish in the 90gal, and of course next to Brute he looks tiny, so I looked into the guys tank, pointed to one of the females, and said, "I'll take that one, shes about the same size as my male". Take a look at the pic..............

So obviously theres no way that she can go into the 90gal yet, Brute will eat her. So at the moment her and Demon are in one of my 20gal longs with some Juvie female Guppies, and whilst she should be alright with them, Demon gets fed Guppies every other day, and he'll probably slaughter the whole lot. I want to keep the two of them together as I'm counting on Demon to defend her when they go into the 90gal, as shes going to be the smallest fish in there whenever I put her in.

So my options are
1. Leave them both with the Guppies, which will probably result in a load of dead Guppies.
2.Risk her in the 90gal, which will probably be a free meal for Brute.
3.Swap the 2 Cons with my 2 Kribs who are in the 40gal. The Kribs should be ok with the Guppies, but I don't know how the Cons would be with the BN Plecs, Angels and Acaras in the 40gal, and if Demon tears up the Angels my wife will KILL me.

Any suggestions or advice would be VERY appreciated

Hello Nick. I wish I knew what to tell you but I don't have experience with Cons. They sure are beautiful though. Too bad Brute wouldn't behave himself lol One thing for certain you don't want to agitate the Mrs. We'd miss you here on Fish Lore
I'm sure you'll get some responses soon. Maybe Shawnie will wake up here shortly. I know she has some Cons.

Thanks Ken! Yeah, I'm hoping Shawnie doesn't sleep well and wakes up early! I think she keeps Cons and Angels in the same tank but I'm not sure. My wifes Angels are pure Peru Altum wild caught, perfect specimens. If they get killed she'll do worse to me!

Well Nick, it's 5:15 A.M. here and no sign of Shawnie. I guess she is just going to sleep all day. She mights as well just stay in bed now, half the day is already gone!

I think I'll ring her and tell her she has a question!

lol shawnie slept in for once!!!!! ...too many coldies last nite i think lol..shes a beauty!!
i have cons in with angels ...even when the cons bred, they stayed with the angels..but its a 75g....cons are fast nick...i had 2 inch cons take on a 12 inch oscar....once she and demon bond, id put them both back with brute...feed brute on one side of the tank and add the 2 cons on the other....he wont catch her...and if her and demon bond, he wont allow him to catch her lol....

Thanks Shawnie I swapped the Cons and Kribs over last night, and other than Demon throwing his weight around a bit everything seems fine for now. The Angels don't seem to even notice the difference, the Acaras weren't happy about it, but soon learned to stay out of his way. So now I'm going to wait until they bond and then introduce them back into the 90gal.
