Hi
you can keep a pair in a 20gallon minimum. I wouldnt add anything else to the 20 gallon. IF you have a bigger tank im sure you can have more possibilities stocking it with more cichlids.

It depends on if you want them to breed, or just want a tank full of cons.. do you know what you want ?

I have kept them in tanks from 20-75 gals....with having all the same sex, you can get away with a 20 but you would only be able to have 2-4 fems... if you want males, id go with 35 gals minimum ...they are tropical fish and 76-80F is great..they are omnivores but love their meaty foods ...I have some in a pH of 7.2 but also have some in a ph of 7.8 ..acclimation is important no matter what as they will do well in just about any ph ...

Hang in there. It doesn't get any easier when you get older. Are there any jobs you can do for family or neighbors to earn the rest of the money? That's what I used to do.

Oh, man, that's rough. I couldn't even think about getting my 1st tank until I moved out, so I understand. I can tell you this, as a parent, the more responsibility you show, the better your chances In the house and at school.

Right now, my parents think I'm nuts every time I tell them we've added another tank to our house, but then they come over and tell me and my daughter how pretty they look.

I hear ya! Every time I get a tank cycled, I start looking for room for another one. Thank goodness I'm paranoid about testing and water changes. If I wasn't there wouldn't even be a kitchen table in the house
