Convicts from Mothers Day spawned!!!

Whooo hoooo they spawned. They must have liked my decorating more than I did. The amount of eggs are uncountable. They have filled a flowerpot full. They were both gorgeous to begin with especially mom with her orange belly and now she has a slight blue stripe along her top fin. The eggs must have been laid recently because they were not there a few hours ago when I was looking around.

Shawnie....what do you do with all of your baby cons...maybe a bit late for that question with their other set of babies in a 10 gal and now a pot full of eggs. Sounds like Tommy needs to get some of his fixer upper tanks up and running!

Have I mentioned lately that I love baby fish?

LOl.."House of babies"..that could be your business name Sherry..lol...I would love to see some pics of all your babies. I think cons are beautiful but they are just to aggressive and prolific for me right now. They are a gorgeous fish though.

Awww congrats on the babies!!! I love convicts. They are such beautiful fish. I have a single female in my 80 gallon right now. I thought of getting a male, but I don't have time for babies. I can't wait to see pics of the babies

LOL "House of Babies". Good one!! Well if you don't already know I have not found a fish that I don't like but for some reason these had caught my eye and I had been researching them....kinda like the Blood Red Jewels. I have gotta stop looking at different kinds of fish.

I am sure Carol is right...we just had a horrible thunderstorm here...no damage just loads of rain, thunder, and lightening. She says that will get you eggs (barametric pressure). I want one more storm for the koi angels then we can't have any storms for a while or my bathtub will have a heater and filter in it too.

You must have a really large family/friend group...LOL.

Mom and dad are doing very well. It looks like they are taking turns taking care of the eggs. The other one is on guard to try and run me off when I come near. They really seem to act like they do not want me near their tank. Of course I have my nose stuck to the glass trying to see what is going on. Poor fish no privacy whatsoever.

they actually will act like they can go through the glass to get you LOL ....id so a small water change now because they get much worse when they are free swimming..not to mention the babies love the hose and find their way in it!! then I give them a month or so to grow without a vac on the bottom and just do small water changes from the top...congrats again

Your right I really think the dad is sure he can come through the glass...he had me move back a couple of times anyway. Well I will have to put my "big girls" on and do that tomorrow. I will just do like I do with the JDs and try to work on the opposite end from the parents. This never gets old does it...every time they have babies or new eggs soon to be babies I get all excited.

We got wigglers. I just found them there are six or seven so far. Mom really wanted me to leave her alone so I am going to give her a little time before I go back over there.

Yep right now they look like eggs with tails...hopefully we will see some eyes soon. Mom keeps picking them up and moving them to the back of the flower pot and they wiggle back to the opening so there she goes again. I have one question....How am I going to count these little buggers. I never really try to count my JDs until they are free swimming and I think I can get in there without mom and dad jumping out and getting me.

Well it looks like we have some eyes now to go along with the tails attached to the eggs. Mom has moved the babies to the other flower pot and has put dams so they can't get all the way out. Oh by the way Mom and Dad are now called Bonnie and Clyde...I could not resist.
